(written September 2010)
A few weeks ago I decided, that because my birthday was coming up, I wanted to find out what kind of deals were available at some of our favorite spots in Lynchburg. I began my research and used multiple ways to find such offers. I signed up on email lists for many local restaurants, made phone calls, in addition to asking friends and family. I was pleasantly surprised by how many restaurants offer birthday incentives and I was looking forward to taking advantage of them. Some of the offers have to be redeemed on the day of your birthday but many of them do not have to be used right away.
The day began with…
a coffee from Starbucks. When you register your reloadable Starbucks card with My Starbucks Rewards, you will receive postcard in the mail a few weeks before your birthday that you can take into any Starbucks and redeem for a FREE drink of your choice.
Breakfast at Panera. You receive a free pastry loaded right onto your Panera card when you register your Panera card at Panerabread.com plus you receive another free pastry for your birthday. As Jaime (the wonderful girl who served us) explained, the more you swipe your card when you make purchases at Panera, the more rewards and incentives you receive. Definitely one of the reasons I will go back.
As usual the service was very pleasant without a long wait and as you can see in the photos and video they don’t skimp on portions!
What a great start to the day.
we went to Jersey Mike’s Subs off Ward’s Rd. When you join their email club they send you coupons and offers twice a month and for your birthday you receive a coupon for a free reg. sub and drink. If you click on the picture it will enlarge the image and you can see on my receipt that my meal was free.
My family and I really enjoy Jersey Mike’s sub sandwiches. They also offer a stamp card which rewards you with a free sandwich once you fill it up. This Jersey Mike’s also participates in the Advantage Card program and when you show the cashier this card you will receive 10% off your order (can’t be combined with coupon but I use this when I don’t have coupons left). When a restaurant offers so many ways to save money you know they will have my attention and patronage. To top it off the sandwiches are awesome and the service is alway friendly.
I went to Koto’s Japanese Steak House off Ward’s Rd. When I drove by their restaurant last week, I saw a sign that said get a free dinner on your Birthday. What the sign does not tell you is that they allow you to choose any single item on the menu except for lobster. The dinner includes soup, a salad, a huge amount of rice, veggies, and a generous portion of your choice of meat. What an incredible deal!
The Koto’s experience is not just dinner but a show. A chef comes out to your table greets you, gets to know a little bit about you, and then provides a fantastic display of knife tossing, onion rings of fire, and plenty of near eyebrow burning (just kidding, they make it very safe…safe but hot) stunts to wow you.
I even got an edible heart shape out of fried rice for my birthday.
The food was amazing, the waitress and the chef were extremely attentive and friendly. Over all I will be back for any reason I have or can make up ( my hubbies bday is coming up so I know where we are going).
Koto’s is great for families, for friends getting together. or for a more intimate time with the person you love.
Here you can see on my receipt that my Birthday dinner was free.
I ended my Free Bday Day the best way…
When you sign up for their birthday club they email you a coupon for a Like It Size (Ice Cream + 1 mix-in) for free. They offer the birthday club for everyone in your family so make sure you sign up the whole household.
I have to tell you that it was a tie between how much I enjoyed the ice cream and how much I loved sharing it with my kids.
Thanks so much for sharing this day with me and make sure you check out the list I have put together so that you can take advantage of free deals on your Birthday.
